In a privileged location, nestled middle between the Mediterranean Sea and the Pyrenees mountains, lies the city of Girona. Girona streets were recently the stage for the shooting of Game of Thrones. The city is well known for its gastronomy. The province of Girona houses thirteen restaurants with seventeen Michelin stars among them, reflecting an exquisite combination of culinary tradition and creative spirit.

05. Girona, a cultural experience

Every weekend we have cultural events, music festivals and other performing arts events that are becoming increasingly well-known, to the point of becoming a reference point in all the world.

Girona combines nightlife with artistic and music festivals

One of the characteristics of these events is their diversity compelling very different styles from the Black Music Festival, the Castell de Peralada International Music Festival, Festival Vinomi, Girona a Capella, Girona Jazz Festival, Porta Ferrada International Festival, Acústica festival, the Ibercamara concerts or the Performing art events of the Temporada Alta in Girona.

06. The grand event: Temps de Flors

Temps de Flors (Flower’s time), in Girona, it’s the famous floral event which happens once per year in the city, in spring. The showcases, the streets and other public spaces are filled with incredible flowers. The artists make their arrangements, such as redesigning spaces to make the hidden corners of the city shine, filling the old town with colours.

Girona becomes a canvas for artistic expression, where the beauty of the floral compositions joins the city’s wonderful architectural and historical heritage.

The coastal region of Girona is a beautiful mixture of old fishing towns, rocky coves, sandy beaches, the Summer Sun and clear blue skies. In other words it’s the representation of the Mediterranean in all its essence.

The Costa Brava is a landscape where nature plays the starring role in the form of three natural parks, as a magical scenery of peace and calm over the sea, but also stand out its mediaeval towns, charming little villages, mountain hamlets and archaeological sites, that show their immense historical and cultural heritage.

Costa Brava, creativity and art all around the coast

Small towns such as Cadaqués, close to the French border, have attracted artists such as Salvador Dalí, Joan Miró and Pablo Picasso. Costa Brava is a natural stage, where a lot of producers find the charm that inspires them, and where artists find the peace and quiet and natural beauty necessary to produce their fine works. Stars like Elizabeth Taylor, Ava Gardner, Orson Welles, Yves Montand and Douglas Fairbanks all graced the Costa Brava with their glamour.
